Butterflies live almost everywhere on earth where there are plants. In our latitudes they love sun, warmth and diverse and flowery vegetation. In Central Europe, butterflies usually inhabit open areas such as meadows and pastures, but also clearings and forest edges. Many butterflies are not only beautiful, they also have an important role in nature. The experts Prof. Dr. Thomas Schmitt and Dr. Martin Wiemers (Senckenberg German Entomological Institute, Müncheberg) convey a lot of interesting information about the fascinating world of butterflies in a generally understandable form. A determination book is useful.
