The fauna in the floodpold before the water is pumped out

On Sunday, April 17th, 2005, the National Park Foundation invites you to the first excursion to the Lower Oder Valley. Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Dohle from the Free University of Berlin leads through the Fiddichow Polder (10), which at that time was still likely to be flooded by winter floods. The meeting point is the Teerofenbrücke Wilderness School, at 10:00 a.m. at the parking lot. Bring good shoes, weatherproof clothing and, if necessary, binoculars.

The Lower Oder Valley is traditionally one of the few remaining flooded areas in Central Europe. It is the only floodplain national park in Germany. It is therefore particularly interesting to get to know the animal world at a time when the polders’ pumping, which is extremely disadvantageous from an ecological point of view, has not yet begun.

The excursion is free of charge, donations and prior registration by telephone on Tel.-No .: 03332/219822 are requested.
